News

  • Big News!  6/18/2012:
    • noobnl got the crespo4g modem (from the Nexus S 4G) to mostly work on Epic 4G, allowing CM9 to Update PRL and Profile natively for the first time!  Currently it has stability problems that noobnl is attempting to fix.  This is very experimental and unstable so no test builds are available yet.
    • If public testing of the crespo4g modem on Epic 4G does commence, it will initially be for advanced users only.  Flashing the crespo4g modem means you cannot use any other ROM on your phone.  Even temporary stock from sdcard will no longer work.  Users will need to know how to manually flash the crespo4g or Epic 4G modem with Odin or Heimdall in order to safely test the upcoming test CM9 builds.

Changelog
  • Fixed MMS sending.
  • Switch from binary libsensor to source-built libsensor from aries.  Theoretically it should behave identical to the old libsensor.  Please report any differences you notice with sensors.
  • Rescaled signal levels to fit AOSP's signal bar thresholds.  It should be roughly equivalent to the behavior in beta4.  Please report if you experience any major problems with signal bar behavior.
  • The new CM9 boot animation featuring the Cid mascot is now included.  If you want the old boot animation, download the flashable .zip from the boot animation page.

  1. Tried to flash the rom and once I hit reboot from clockworkmod, the phone attempted to boot. The screen showed the galaxy s / cyanogenmod logo then the screen cut off completely while the capacitive backlights stayed on for the duration until I pulled the battery.

  2. Replying to the black screen issue, this also happened to me on a kang I made... I will try this build soon...

  3. hey guys, I saw a os tweek on youtube called linaro (i think it was called), is there any way we can get that? supposedly getting double the performance.

    1. Linaro, from what I've researched, depends on a lack of werror. Werror is in the current GB kernel we are using, haven't checked into 3.0 kernel. Not sure what else will be needed to use Linaro.

    2. I second this. Would love to see this kernel tweak.

  4. The only thing i don't like is when i take a panoramic photograph. When I go to the gallery, all the Panoramics are at the end, instead of with the others (sorted by when taken) (this is not directly related to this beta, it's been like this for the past couple of builds). Probably due to the renaming of the photos to have IMG/PANO at front.

  5. Since flashing this I have not run into the issues I had with Beta 4. I was having some reboots while using GPS in Maps, times where leaving Maps would not make the active GPS icon disappear, & poor signal where it wasn't poor prior to Beta 4. This update has crushed all those bugs for me as far as I can tell

  6. So far this is good. Once the light sensor hits bright light, the screen brightness comes up like it should but doesn't return until I unlock the phone again. At least for me.

    1. Due to the new libsensor, you might try going to Settings -> Display -> Automatic Brightness and check "Allow light decrease" to get the function that you're used to from the old sensor. This seems to operate more similarly to other devices using the opensource sensor code.

  7. I have battery charge trouble since I updated to beta-4. I am using the same apps and approx the same time frame, but the battery life is half of what it was. Need to use my phone and do not have a charger while am walking around, any help would be great. If I need to change the kernal to help I will. Just installed the beta-5 pre-1. Will give that a shot tomorrow and see what happens.Like the updates keeps me courious, like the fact you want to keep improving the whole CM9 experience. Other people make ROM's then are finished. Keep up the great work!!!

  8. Thanks for the hard work. I see that a new libsensor is used, does this mean that all 8 sensors are enabled again?

  9. So far i love it just a few issues...
-Auto light sensor doesn't seem to work properly.
-The Video Camcorder does not work with the LED(nor the panorama view)--light should come on for those functions if selected .....
-Battery seems to drain a little faster then b4 but livable.(half-3/4 a day with little to no use. Sits next to a sprint airave)
**Home screen: you should be able to remove the screens that you want(1 from each end). If you change it to 3 you then have to make 2 the main page and then you have to rearrange all the desktops sense it doesn't auto shift
Trebuchet?? assuming the launcher has locked up/Forcequit but doesn't auto restart...had to reboot phone.
-Love the new browser options much easier to navigate everything and add new tabs!!
**The forceclose as the back button is nice...might want to put safe guard for the main functions of the phone(if it doesn't already)
*Thanks for getting the front notification led working!

  10. Amazing everything save for the wifi tethering. Doesn't seem to work. I had the same problem on all the builds before but on the last one, beta3, I did something (although I can't remember what) and it got it working. Any ideas?

  20. Have lost ability to tether with CM 9 version 4. Will 5 improve this or is there something else I should do?

  22. Also having issues with sending MMS. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Thinking it could possibly be a network issue cause my Sprint signal at times can be spotty. Also, when updating CM9 do I need to reinstall gapps in CWM5 as well? Wasn't sure since it states we don't have to wipe in between updates. Kinda of a newb, but I feel like I've figured it out for the most part. Thanks again!

    1. No, you no longer have to reinstall GAPPS if you don't wipe data

  23. Are nightlies automated now? If not, are 0617 and 0618 stable? Thanks for all the work, guys! I'm still on Beta 4, but had something really strange yesterday. After taking a picture with stock camera app, I locked the phone and put it in my pocket. Within less than 30mins, the battery dropped from 70% to 19%, and shut down. After that, after charging some,I rebooted, then I lost the key click and lock screen sounds. I've tried just clearing cache, then I tried reflashing B4. I will try to flash a different rom then come back to see if it fixes it.

  24. So with the crespro4g modem working(ish) on epicmtd, will we be able to use crespro EK02 or FE10 basband versions? I don't know if that would even help with anything at all, but I'm sure its good for development. Running nightly 6/19 stress free 4.0 on 2 sph-d700. Thank you for doing what you do!!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. running good no issues two questions does a rom have any effect on signal or is it all modem and lock screen slider shortcuts large they were small in beta 4 anyway to change

  26. WHOA... whatever happened with the latest nightly (6/21) but things are very nice. Quadrant went from 1350 to 1495. And my ping on my wifi and 3g is lowest i've ever seen, ~60ms and 160ms respectively. using FC19. Normally im around 115ms for wifi and 200ms for 3g.

    1. Read this post, then tried 6/21. Totally agree that this is really good! My quadrant is 1521 and phone is very responsive!! Battery is pretty good too. Getting a full day out of an Anker 1800mAh battery. Good job!
